Course Overview:
This course focuses on equipping Health and Safety Officers with the knowledge and skills needed to create and maintain safe work environments, prevent accidents, and manage environmental responsibilities effectively.

LO1 Explain the key requirements of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work framework legislation.

LO2 Explain the concept of risk management and apply the hazard identification and risk assessment process

LO3 Identify and analyse the importance of accident reporting and investigation.

LO4 Describe & evaluate the key components of emergency planning and of an evacuation procedure.

LO5 Explain the contents and function of a Safety Statement.

LO6 Describe the key parameters of an IPC license, analysing how company activities can impact upon this.

LO7 Evaluate the role of waste management and detail waste control and minimisation strategies.

Who is this course for?
This is aimed at individuals that wish to obtain an international recognised award in the area of Health and safety. They may currently work in a health and safety role or aspire to move into the area. This qualification is evident to employers and other relevant stakeholders of the knowledge, Skills and Competencies that you possess.

Under the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012, as amended by the Technological Universities Act 2018, SETU is a designated awarding body and has the legal authority to make awards up to and including Level 10 on the NFQ. Each award granted by the University is aligned to the NFQ.
