Transition Coaching Programme – Empower your future

Transition Coaching Programme – Empower your future

County Wexford Chamber Skillnet is delighted to launch an exciting new service for local business aimed at upskilling employees in leadership, self awareness, assertiveness and resilience – Transition Coaching Programme.

We are all familiar with the notion of coaching in the world of sport; however, coaching can be applied in a variety of different settings. It is commonplace to see coaches operating in the business environment with executive and business-related coaching programmes. Coaching has been described as the process of ‘unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance’ (Whitmore, 2009[1]).

County Wexford Chamber Skillnet provides transition coaching programmes to employers to assist employees who are transitioning to new roles and situations in the workplace. Moving to a new role or managing change in the workplace can sometimes be difficult. Transition Coaching allows employees to analyse the process of change and both the challenges and opportunities change may bring. Transition Coaching aims to help employees focus on their key strengths, push past obstacles, and increase confidence in their own abilities to work more effectively. This service is open to both member organisations of County Wexford Chamber Skillnet and individuals and business owners.

How does coaching differ from training or mentoring?

Training provides learners with new knowledge, skills, and competencies either on a training programme or through one-to-one training. Training is of a fixed time period. Mentoring usually sees a more experienced workplace colleague provide support to the person being mentored by sharing their knowledge and experience with the goal of helping that person to develop their skills in the workplace. Mentors usually have specialist knowledge of the role of the person they are mentoring and mentoring tends to be ongoing and carried out over a longer period of time.  Coaching focuses on the personal growth of the individual by increasing self-awareness. Coaching allows the employee to set realistic personal goals, identify obstacles to success and seek approaches to address and overcome these.

How can transitional coaching benefit employees?

Moving to a new role or managing change in the workplace can sometimes be daunting. Transition Coaching benefits employees by increasing their sense of self-awareness and identifying their core strengths and areas for future development. Coaches seek to show the employee or ‘coachee’ how to push past obstacles and increase confidence in their own abilities to work more effectively. Transition Coaching is a process that allows employees to analyse the process of change and the challenges and possibilities change may bring.

All coaches working with us are qualified and have a range of different experiences so that we can match the right coach with the right company employee, thereby maximising the benefits to individual employees and in turn the company.  Coaches are solution focused and work with coachees to set realistic goals, examine their current situation and address what specifically the coachee will do to push past obstacles and increase workplace effectiveness.

How will I know the coach and coachee will be suited and work well together?

Successful coaching is underpinned by trust and mutual respect between the coach and the coachee. It is an equal relationship where the coach facilitates the personal development needs of the coachee. County Wexford Chamber Skillnet will arrange a short discovery call between the employee and the coach we feel has the experience to best meet their needs to ensure the coaching programme can be undertaken with confidence and agreed goals.

Who are our Coaches?

County Wexford Chamber Skillnet have developed an application process to ensure that our panel of Coaches have the relevant expertise and qualifications to meet the needs of all participants of the programme.  We have adopted a continuous improvement process to allow for ongoing intake of new coaches to the panel as well as regular review and monitoring of the effectiveness of the programme.

The employer will also receive a feedback sheet on the outcome of the coaching programme and its success in meeting the coaching goals.
